PT. Kaltim Methanol Industri received an award as the company with the Best Occupational Safety and Health (K3) from the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan (Kaltim).
The award given at the East Kalimantan Provincial Government's National K3 Award Night was handed over by Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan Hadi Mulyadi at the Novotel Balikpapan Hotel to PT Kaltim methanol Industri, represented by IHSE Dept Manager, Dwipa Fattamonas on Saturday (10/06/2023).
To the media, Dwipa Fattamonas expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the East Kalimantan Provincial Government for the 16th time in a row being given the trust through the K3 management award in the zero accident category at PT KMI.
"We happily welcome this award for the earnest efforts and through the hard work of all employees and management support so that zero accidents can be achieved," he said.
Through this appreciation, Dwipa emphasized PT Kaltim Methanol Industri's commitment to continue to be consistent in carrying out K3 principles in PT KMI's work environment. It is believed that this appreciation will further boost OHS performance at the only Methanol producing company in Indonesia.
"We certainly hope that the appreciation that has been given by the Government, be it local, provincial or national, will further motivate employees and companies in developing a K3 culture in the workplace," he added.
The man who likes reading and traveling explained that the achievement of the K3 award for the company which was established in 1991 was due to the discipline in maintaining the consistency of OSH as a culture in the work environment.
So that all employees make occupational safety and health a priority in their daily activities both in the work environment and in the community. The creation of K3 as a work culture, of course, cannot be separated from the strong support from PT KMI's management.
"We are trying to make K3 a culture at work. Because by making K3 a work culture and with management and employee support, this is PT KMI's capital in maintaining zero work accidents," he explained.
In practice, periodically his party routinely conducts educational and refreshment efforts for employees, totaling around 290 people as well as partners and third parties, related to K3 issues. Discussions and evaluations are also carried out in daily meetings, monthly P2K3 review meetings, Management Review meetings, safety talk media, safety induction to counseling, whether in the form of posters, safety videos and safety paging.
"All of that is to refresh and give them updated things related to K3," concluded Dwipa.
Meanwhile Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan Hadi Mulyadi said the award which was given to coincide with the national K3 Month was an appreciation from the East Kalimantan Provincial Government to companies that were consistent and successful in implementing work safety in their respective work environments.
Hadi then hopes that this can be maintained to foster a healthy work ecosystem and of course pay attention to the safety of both the environment and its workers.
"Hopefully award-winning companies and activists can play an active role, in terms of occupational safety and health so that their lives are more prosperous," said Hadi Mulyadi.
