On Tuesday, March 7, 2023, PT. KMI officially launched the English Fun Camp, located at the Guntung Village Office Hall. This activity was held to support the Guntung Goes To English Village movement.
M Fitrya Lauda Eka Prasetyo, Head of Guntung Village said, this activity is a CSR activity of PT. Kaltim Methanol Industri (KMI) and involved the Education Office, supervisors of Bontang English students, SMP Negeri (SMPN) 9 North Bontang, and several stakeholders.
This is done because Guntung Village is a traditional village, a thick art activity that is an attraction for local and foreign communities.
The Mayor of Bontang, Basri Rase appreciated this activity, because it could add to the quality of human resources for the successor of Bontang City. He hopes that the English Fun Camp will be the starting point, for many junior high school children in Bontang to gain good English skills.
"I hope this program is sustainable and can increase the capacity of its participants," hoped Basri.
"Because of English, a universal language, so the hope is that Guntung young people can be fluent in English," he said.
The English Fun Camp itself will be held once a week, every Friday after carrying out Friday Prayers. This activity was attended by 24 junior high school students in Guntung Village. The teaching staff is taken from SMPN 9 Guntung plus the English student supervisor of Bontang City.
"Because SMPN 9 is in Guntung, so the main target is SMPN 9 students who live in Guntung," he explained.
This activity will later be carried out for 4 months, located in the Meeting Room of the Guntung Village Office.
