Towards Bontang Herd Immunity, PT KMI Vaccines 530 Students and Teachers

In order to maximize towards Bontang Herd Immunity in Bontang City, PT Kaltim Methanol Industri ( PT KMI ) held a mass vaccination for teachers and students at SMPN 8 Bontang, Wednesday (29/09/2021).

This activity is a program from PT KMI, with the title KMI Cares for Covid-19 in collaboration with the Bontang Health Office and SMPN 8 Bontang.

Students and teachers both from SMPN 8 and from DDI schools and Adventist Middle Schools seemed enthusiastic to participate in the first stage of the vaccination activity.

A total of 530 students took part in the vaccination stage. Starting with queuing, screening to check the condition and fitness of students to being injected with vaccines and post-injection observations. In addition, after the vaccination, each student was given milk and hand sanitizer.

Deputy Plan General Manager of PT KMI, Listyawan Adi Pratisto said this was his party's effort to support the community to be free from Covid-19.

"One of our efforts to be free from Covid-19 is by participating in urging the public to vaccinate so that the Bontang people can achieve Herd Immunity," he said.

Furthermore, he said, apart from vaccination, his party's efforts in the CSR program will continue to be maximized to help complete the Covid-19 pandemic so that people can carry out their activities as before the pandemic.

Previously, on several occasions, the Methanol-producing company had launched CSR programs for the people of Bontang City, including oxygen assistance to the Bontang health office, masks, hand sanitizers to basic food packages.

"We hope that with this assistance, all junior high school students will be able to facilitate the PTM process," he hoped.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Mayor of Bontang, Najirah Adi Darma, appreciated PT KMI in implementing the vaccination. Najirah assessed that the CSR program was very helpful for the government to achieve the target of more than 70 percent of vaccinations in Taman City.

"The Bontang city government would like to thank PT KMI for the current vaccination program, which has now reached more than 50 percent. Of course, thanks to the hard work of all stakeholders in Bontang City," he said.

Najirah said she was happy that the maximum efforts of all parties would also be able to optimally hold PTM for each school. Najirah hopes that all obstacles in the online teaching and learning process can be resolved properly without any significant obstacles.

"There are many complaints from parents who are stressed because schools cannot meet face-to-face, parents also cannot follow their children's lessons. Thank God, but we still maintain our health protocols, our immunity so that the Covid virus does not interfere with our activities," said Najirah.

Appearing to be present at the ceremony for the vaccination program assisted by PT KMI, Head of Public Health, Jamilah Suyuti, Spokesperson for Covid-19, Adi Permana, Head of Basic Education Division of Bontang Disdikbud, Saparudin and Principal of SMPN 8 Purwanto.

It is known that during the vaccination program from PT KMI for students and teachers at SMPN 8, as many as 35 health workers from the Bontang Selatan 2 Health Center helped to oversee the delivery of the first stage of the Covid-19 vaccination.
